On this page you will be able to find many of Miyazaki's films with short summaries and even fun facts about the creation of each movie.
Each movie provided has their own unique storylines with fun and corky characters. Some movies are aimed
at children while others are for more mature audiences. Although there are such
a wide range of films, each film always has the most beautiful and intricate artwork which was quite impressive for their time.
I still believe the animation work of Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki is breathtaking.
This is a fun and funky film for all audiences. I would consider this film pretty unique from your normal animations.
The film tells the story of Ponyo, a goldfish who escapes from the ocean and is rescued by a five-year-old human boy,
Sosuke after she is washed ashore while trapped in a glass jar. As they bond with each other, the story deals with resolving
Ponyo's desire to become a human girl, against the devastating circumstances brought about by her acquisition and use of magic.
Ponyo was a film created and produced by Hayao Miyazaki and was officially animated by Studio Ghibli in 2008.
Miyazaki was initially inspired to create this film after he had been given advice to make another one aimed for children
after the success of his prior movie, Howls Moving Castle. Miyazaki visited a small seaside town called Tomonoura which
is where his inspiration to create and animate the story Ponyo would emerge from. Many of Miyazaki's
experiences through life would help contribute to the creation of this story which he would eventually create and animate.
This is one of my favorite childhood films. I would consider this film one of the more mild films of Miyazaki. The film tells a story of a
13 year old girl named Kiki who leaves home with just a broom and her cat Jiji in search for her new life. The film takes you along her
journey of discovering what it means to be a witch and how she learns to take care of herself and mature as a young witch. As she
moves to a new town and uses her flying ability to earn a living, what friends will she meet along the way, and will
she need their support in the future?.
Kiki's Delivery service was a film created and produced by Hayao Miyazaki and was officially animated by Studio Ghibli in 1989.
According to Miyazaki, the movie portrays the gulf between independence and reliance in teenage Japanese girls. It took many animators
to create this film adapted from the orginal 1985 novel by Eiko Kadono. Miyazaki was able to transform this novel into art,
from animating on the page to on the screen.
This is one of my favorite films of Miyazaki. I believe that this is a very unique film with gorgeous art and a very abnormal plot with lots of weird twists.
Spirited Away tells the story of Chihiro Ogino (Hiiragi), a ten-year-old girl who, while moving
to a new neighborhood, enters the world of Kami (spirits of Japanese Shinto folklore). After her parents are turned into pigs by
the witch Yubaba (Natsuki), Chihiro takes a job working in Yubaba's bathhouse to find a
way to free herself and her parents and return to the human world. The film takes you along her journey as she learns how
take care of herself and learns to mature and care for others
